Cool Ending Riff from “Lenny” - Lesson 11November 5th, 2007 |
This is a great riff that I think Stevie played at the end of Lenny from Live at El Mocambo. Involves playing in the major box 3 frets down from the standard blues box at the root. Slightly advanced because of the timing of the hammer-on chords.

Another thing you can do is to hit the harmonics at the fifth fret after the harmonics at the twelfth fret to really give it a sweet ending sound…even though I believe Stevie hits some harmonics above his pickups??? Great lesson by the way…I love this lick!

Those harmonics above the pickup are in the vicinity of the non-existent 24th fret. They are the same as the 5th fret harmonic. Both the 5th fret and the 24th fret are close to 1/4th the distance of the string, and therefore create a vibration 2 octaves higher than the open string.
