B.B. King style riff from TightropeNovember 18th, 2007 |
One of my favorite solos of all time, Stevie played a B.B. King style riff in the second 12 bar chorus of the solo. I show you how to do it in this video lesson.

Just my 2 cents worth. If you get a chance check out the Kustom line of amps. They’re relatively inexpensive and have a great tone.

I’ve never tried one, but I’ll certainly look for them the next time I’m in the store. Do you have any particular model you like?

Definitely try out the Coupe series.
If you can’t crank it up..go with the 36 Coupe…amazing clean…max the pre-amp on the clean channel and it breaks up beautifully on my strat.
If you’re looking in the lower price points…the DFX series (Quads) have an amazing clean tone.
Hahah..I sound like a salesman. I own a Coupe and a Quad…prefer the coupe

I believe that you can get a Fender Blues Junior for under $500 if you get the black or blond tolex version. The tweed version that I demoed a couple times here sounds better and I think it retails for $529. Almost in your price range, and a great amp in my opinion.

Really enjoy your lessons. They have really got me inspired and playing a lot more. Can you recommend a good inexdpensive amp? I need something under$500 that sounds good. Not just like Stevie but a good blues tone. Would also like whole song lessons if possible, especially Lenny.
Thanks,
Adam

Hey man, If you want something cheap with good blues tone look into getting a Fender Champion 600 with some sort of tube screamer. I use a Fender Champ ($200) with a digitech bad monkey ($40) and I get amazing blues tone. Sometimes it really surprises me with how great the tone really is from 2 really cheap products.

I recently purchased a Fender Super Champ XD. (retail $299) and love it. My more seasoned friends who have played it were impressed with the tone and the amount of sound you can get out it.
