Funky Voodoo Chile’ riff - SRV versionDecember 20th, 2007 |
This lesson takes a look at the funky rhythm part of Voodoo Chile’. When he gets to the section where he’s just playing rhythm for a few bars, he throws in some real quick filler between the main strums of the rhythm part. I break it down and show you how to play it in this lesson.

Hi Anthony,
I notice a common complaint of jerky video….. I’d llike to throw out a tip for those folks. This would have nothing to do with your videos and more a local caching/internet problem. The fix is to start the video, then click the pause and let the video stream in…. then hit the play and sit back and enjoy the great videos!
works every time……
Keith

Anthony, when you slide up on the high E, right before you do the treble on the G string at the 7th & 9th fret (C# & Eb), what note do you slide up to?
Thanks, Mike

Anthony Stauffer ( StevieSnacks Teacher ) reply on July 22nd, 2008:
Hi Mike,
I don’t consciously stop at any given fret, but I usually end up between the 12th and 15th fret when I lift up and come back down on the low E string.

dude, you rock - that was very, very cool!
would you recommend a beginner doing this, or should there be a set of basic (required skills) needed before doing these stevie snacks?
Great job - I hope I can get my stevie skills up.

hey great lessons man. i love srv and have been looking for a good voodoo chile video for a long time! thanks very much. i noticed your comment about how some stuff is easier to learn in person than with tabs. freelicks.net actually has an interesting format for video lessons that you may like. thanks again

That’s unfortunate. The videos are playing right off of YouTube. Not sure why they’d be freezing, maybe your internet connection is being used by something else. Anywho, the videos are available on many other sites like Yahoo Video, Blip.tv, Veoh.com, Dailymotion, and Metacafe, so you can try one of those sites. I’m putting together the DVD of all these lessons so far complete with tabs.
Some of the other sites that host my videos actually have a quicktime version of the files as well. Just visit Revver.com, or Blip.tv and search for steviesnacks and you’ll find them.
Sorry you’re having so much trouble just watching the videos. That does make it hard to learn.

Alright, I’ve been looking at these lessons on and off all day, and I’ve yet to have one of them play all the way through without freezing up on me. What’s a ‘bad’ DVD recording of this stuff gonna cost me? I’m interested………Mason

Wow! Talented and selfless at the same time. A rare combo! Really enjoyed stumbling across this site (found it thru youtube). Haven’t been playing much the last few months, but I’ll be doing good to get off the couch today. Definitely an insperation. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! I’m still searching for a way to create tabs without it taking me hours. There’s a bunch of stuff you can put into tabs, some stuff is easier to show in person.
