Podcast 14 - Smooth SRV Style Sliding Double Stops

July 23rd, 2008

In songs like Ain’t Gone’ Give Up On Love and The Sky Is Cryin, Stevie used a sliding technique that is kind like double stops, but played one at a time. In this free lesson I show you where in Box #1 this slide occurs and where in the blues progression it happens.

Thanks, great lesson. I didn’t know that he switched pickup. I have some request, could you do some lesson about this tremolo chords picking thing in dirty pool.Tthere is also one thing with I have a problem - Stevie sometimes grabbed two strings and bended them, but You know not like normal double stop, these two strings were under the same fingers, Hendrix style. I would be glad, if u explain that, becuase i can’t get this right.
Ps. forgive me for some mistakes, english is not my native lenguage.

    Hi Igor,

The tremelo chord picking you’re referring to is called fan picking sometimes. I will do a lesson on that at some point, but the basic technique is to fan your pick across all the strings really fast :)
As for the multi-string bends, I’m not sure if you’re referring to the bends that happen in Box 2, but I do cover some 2 and 3 string bends that he does there (like in Texas Flood) in the extended length lesson on Box 2.

Thanks for writing all the way from Poland!
