Pride And Joy - Live

August 16th, 2008

Just a quick video from my show last night.  We had just finished "Gimme three steps" by Lynyrd Skynyrd when a guy right in the front said "How about some Stevie Ray Vaughan"?  Wouldn’t you know that Pride and Joy was up next on our setlist.  It’s nice when things work out that way.  Nothing like playing a song by one of your favorite influences in front of a crowd that appreciates it.  I’m much more of a stay-at-home kind of guy, but gigs like this are a lot of fun.  Good weather, good crowd, and mostly good music :)

That video quality is actually not bad at all :)
    Enjoyed your improvising. Nicely done.

I think the video is remarkable considering this little thing only cost $150, but the audio leaves a lot to be desired. I bought it for the convenience though, not the fidelity…hehe

I bought a Flip video camera for convienence and it’s not as impressive as I thought it would be. Out of curiousity, what camera is it you’re using in this video?

This is an Aiptek A-HD+. I don’t use the HD features of it because I’ve got my Canon for that, but the DVD resolution video is pretty good in decent lighting. I have observed though that you need a pretty decent computer to play back the video. Not exactly sure why. The encoded bitrate is about 3000kb/s, but it’s encoded directly into h.264 format which is harder for the computer to decode.

nice improv solos Anthony, recording was a little thin , but it doesn’t matter, I got it, and I liked what you played, and the band is tight. More gig videos would be fun to watch. Wish I coould have heard “Gimme 3 Steps’ too.

I didn’t feel like dragging my HD camcorder to the show so I just took my little cheap Aiptek recorder which does a decent job with video, but the audio is awful. I might put Gimme 3 steps up over at the HSB site.
