Further On Up The Road…..

December 15th, 2008 Categories: Blog Posts

I got an email from Dennis C. in Germany yesterday asking how he was going to become a rock-star if I stopped teaching lessons.  He was kidding of course, but I realized that I’ve been so wrapped up in this 5 Boxes Essential Licks issue that I haven’t really let you know what I’m working on next.

The Baby

I mentioned it a while back but it bears repeating. I’m going to be a father for the first time in January.  Around the 25th if our doctors are correct.  We haven’t yet picked out a name for our son, and that’s just one indication of how unprepared I am for this baby :)  I’ve been blessed to put many, many nights and weekends into this site over the past year and have really, really enjoyed the emails, comments and more emails and more comments that I’ve been able to respond to.  But if there’s one thing I know, StevieSnacks will still be there after the baby is here and healthy, but I only get one chance to help welcome my son into this world and I’m going to give it my primary focus.

What does that mean?  I can’t say for sure, but most likely it means that I’ll be unresponsive to emails after he’s born for some period of time.  Obviously I won’t be putting out any new lessons for a time before and after he arrives.

Before then…..

I began working on two series of lessons this summer, then got sidetracked by the Essential Licks series, and am only now getting back to them.  I wrote about it a few months back, but I’ve gone and posted details about these series and my progress on the Roadmap page which you can find a link to on the homepage.

I think I’ll be able to get the first series "Essential Fretboard" done before the baby arrives, but I can’t guarantee it.  I’m really trying to make this series the best thing I’ve ever created so I don’t want to cut corners. I’ll be using some new techniques in this series which should help make it more instructional and interactive than previous lesson series.

While I’m completing those series, I’ll be doing short free lessons which you’ll see on the Free Lessons Page, and in the Podcast.

The bottom line

StevieSnacks isn’t going away, it might slow down for a bit, but I have every intention of making 2009 an even better year than 2008.  Believe me, I’ve got enough ideas to be teaching these lessons for the next few years.  What I’m laying down now is foundational to the lessons I’ll be teaching in the future, and when I get through it, we’ll get to the really fun stuff which I hope will include full song lessons, lots of more solos, and a ton of cool stuff that I haven’t even thought of.  What I’m creating now will give you the tools you need to begin learning things on your own, in addition to whatever lessons you take from me or anyone else.

So to all of you who have faithfully checked the site every day, and continue to do so, please be patient as I go through this amazing transition in my life next month.  I’m going to do my best to balance things out in the long run, but there will be a period of time where StevieSnacks is taking a very distant place behind some more important things, but it will be back :)

Anthony, first let me say that you are an amazing guitar player! I’m jeleous! Awhile ago you put out a free printable diagram of the five esential blues boxes. It was in color and very easy to read. Some how I got rid of that email before I could print it and I can not find it anywhere on my computer. Any chance of getting it again? Thanks for the great lessons

    Anthony,

Congrats!!! I too will be a father for the first time. The doctors have predicted January 31, 2009 for our delivery…..what a coincidence. We will be having a little girl (who I will be teaching the blues to as soon as she can hold a guitar).

Congrats once again and happy hollidays to you and your family!!

    Cheers,
    Greg

    Andrew,

Congratulations on becoming a father! It is, without question, the most important and amazing time of your life. Also, thank you very much for the hard work you put into this site. I have grown quite a bit as a guitarist in large part to your video presentations.

Good luck and Happy Holidays to you and your better half!

Best Wishes on your new family arrival, I have just recently found
your website from you tube and I am so impressed with your soulful playing and your commitment to helping other blues players like myself. I have learned more with your blues box concept than I have in a while with other courses. I will be ordering your program very soon and look forward to any new lessons that you come up with after your baby arrives.

    Good Luck & Best Wishes

Good for you Anthony! I gotta echo everyone’s sentiments here…that’s gonna be one lucky kid, not only growing up with a dad who knows his priorities, but also surrounded by some great music! How about little Stevie Ray Stauffer? OK, maybe that’s a little over the top. :^)

    hey Anthony,

I became to be a father twice. It’s the most beautifull and wonderfull thing to experience in your life. So take your time for that. Far more important than us guitar players.
We can and will wait for future lessons.

So, congratulations and help your wife however you can. I hope you will be as happy with your child as I am with mine. And of course a happy Christmas and a musical 2009, cheers Serge.
