Fixing Quicktime Video Playback Issues
The videos I sell in the download store are Quicktime videos. They play just fine for most people, but every once in a while, someone has problems playing the videos. Fortunately there are a few common solutions that have worked for nearly every person who had any problem playing the videos.
Video Guidelines
The videos are Quicktime videos, they will not play in Windows Media Player
You should have the latest version of Quicktime and iTunes installed from Apple: http://www.apple.com/itunes
Solution 1: Use iTunes, not Quicktime
For some reason, customers have reported that when they open the videos with iTunes, they will sometimes play more smoothly than in the Quicktime player alone.
Solution 2: Uninstall and Reinstall iTunes
Some users have reported that uninstalling iTunes, and installing the latest version from www.apple.com/itunes will solve the problem.
Solution 3: Use the troubleshooting guide from Apple
Apple has written an extensive article on troubleshooting video playback on Windows XP and Vista. The article is located here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1386.
Solution 4: Download and install the VLC player to play the videos
As a last ditch solution (and one that has worked every time), you can download the free and open-source video player, VLC Player. It is capable of playing Quicktime videos, and seems to play them more reliably than iTunes itself. However, you will not have access to the chapter markers that are present in more recent lessons.
The VLC Player Installer can be downloaded here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
